Lyn-Dys Store Front

Lyn-Dys: Your Complete One-Stop Health Food Store in London, ON

While we may be your small neighbourhood health food store in London, Ontario, Lyn-Dys Health Food is proud to offer you a large variety. As members of the Canadian Health Food Association (CHFA) and Organic Council of Ontario, we research all of our products to ensure that we’re supplying the highest-quality, “cleanest” products available without the addition of harsh chemicals. After all, we believe that you are what you put in your mouth and what you put on your skin.

Family-Owned for over 20 Years
Family-owned for the past 23 years, our name Lyn-Dys is derived from owner Lynda Phillips’ name combined with her mother’s name, Gladys. We support and buy local certified organic products within Ontario whenever possible, with all supplements we sell having the NPN (natural product number) labelled on the bottles.

Certified Organic Food Products
All of our food products are certified organic. We stock everything from fresh produce, frozen meats, yogurts, and cheeses to baked goods, bulk flours, grains and beans, pastas, nut butters, prepared foods, condiments, spices, snacks, juices, oils, teas and more. Our producers include McSmith’s Organic Farm, Wardcrest Farms, Slater’s Farm, Eden Foods®, Oak Manor, Crofter’s®, Little Stream Bakery, Pinehedge Farms, Fenwood Farm’s Chicken, Nature’s Path, Harmony Milk and many, many more.

What Does Certified Organic Mean?
Organic food is produced without the application of harmful herbicides, pesticides or fertilizers. In order to be considered organic, the land on which the food is grown must be free of chemical and other harmful applications for at least 36 months. Organic farming is not only about what the grower doesn’t do, but it’s also about what he or she does! The grower must demonstrate a commitment to sustainable farming practices, which includes building and maintaining fertile and self-regenerative soils high in organic matter and biological activity.

But how do you know a product that claims to be organic actually is? This is where the term “certified organic” comes into play. Certified organic means that there is a third party or organization watching over the shoulder of the grower to ensure that they really are following the guidelines. This involves annual testing of crops and soil samples. A few of the certification agencies that we work with are the Organic Growers and Buyers Association (OGBA), the Organic Crop Improvement Association (OCIA), Oregon Tilth, Quality Assurance International Organic Certification (QAI) and Demeter International. We encourage all of our customers to “think before they eat.”
