Family-Owned for over 20 Years
LYN-DYS Health Food was started in 1993 by a mother and daughter team. The name comes from a combination of the names - LYN - Lynda and DYS - Gladys. In 2009, Gladys stepped back from a daily position at the store, but continued with the office and accounting responsibilities. At that time, Lorie Pierson became a part-owner. August 2019 Lynda retired and Gladys has stepped back into a daily position at the store. As the owners, Lorie and Gladys are available to assist you along with our knowledgeable staff.

What Does Certified Organic Mean?
Organic food is produced without the application of harmful herbicides, pesticides or fertilizers. In order to be considered organic, the land on which the food is grown must be free of chemical and other harmful applications for at least 36 months. Organic farming is not only about what the grower doesn’t do, but it’s also about what he or she does! The grower must demonstrate a commitment to sustainable farming practices, which includes building and maintaining fertile and self-regenerative soils high in organic matter and biological activity.
But how do you know a product that claims to be organic actually is? This is where the term “certified organic” comes into play. Certified organic means that there is a third party or organization watching over the shoulder of the grower to ensure that they really are following the guidelines. This involves annual testing of crops and soil samples.

We do our best to provide specialty products, but are limited to Certified Organic. Remember, we can order products for you when needed.
